Google Cloud Is Working With Solana

  • Google Cloud has struck a deal with Solana blockchain and as a result, it will add support for the Solana blockchain in BigQuery, a fully-managed, serverless data warehouse.
  • The October 27-announced Blockchain Node Engine by Google Cloud will feature on the Solana chain starting in 2023, allow users to start a Solana node and easily access Solana data.
  • The Solana team also announced the launch of its upcoming Solana mobile, which would be available for preorder in early 2023 but an official date has yet to be confirmed.

Google Cloud has recently partnered with Solana to add support for the Solana blockchain in BigQuery, a fully-managed, serverless data warehouse, leading to easier access to Solana data.

Moreover, the October 27-announced Blockchain Node Engine by Google Cloud will feature on the Solana chain starting in 2023. Users will be able to start a dedicated Solana node in the Cloud thanks to the integration.

During the Solana Breakpoint, a four-day conference scheduled from November 4 to November 7, the Web3 lead at Google Cloud Nalin Mittal announced that the Solana support will go live in the first quarter of 2023.

Interestingly, the recent support comes nine years after Google Cloud first added Bitcoin to the service. Mittal revealed that Google Cloud is learning more about the Solana blockchain by already running a Solana validator. It is figuring out how to operate the same in a cost-effective manner,” he added.

The knowledge gained from this experience will help Google Cloud as it gets ready to integrate the network to Blockchain Node Engine, its service for providing managed blockchain nodes. With its introduction, Google Cloud “really deepened its investment in this space,” according to Mittal, who identified this as the company’s first web3 offering.

Apart from the grand partnership with Google Cloud, Solana made a series of launch announcements during its annual gathering. The CEO and founder of Solana Spaces, Vibhu Norby, delivered an interactive presentation to unveil the Solana Store in Miami. The CEO stated:

“Now anyone, anywhere can build their own Solana Store.”

In addition, the team announced the launch of its upcoming Solana mobile, which would be available for preorder in early 2023. However, Solana has not yet announced any official date regarding the same.

Solana went on to announce the opening of the Solana App Store in preparation for the Web3 disruption. During the session, a  Solana representative underlined the need for a positive user experience in Web3.

Solana’s DApp store supports the cause by promising to eliminate fees, revenues, and charges. Additionally, the company informed the interested parties that submissions will begin in January 2023.

It is important to note that the Solana phone, which will be powered by a Qualcomm chipset, is unique for its ability to securely store the private keys of cryptocurrency wallets.

Notably, Solana Breakpoint is the ecosystem’s highly anticipated annual event, which this year attracted 13,000 people in just one of the four locations where it was held simultaneously.
