Chain Announces Partnership With New England Patriots

  • Chain previously collaborated with luxury jewellery firm Tiffany & Co to provide infrastructure for their NFT drop.
  • The partnership with the New England Patriots will use Web3 to provide a unique experience for fans.
  • This would not be the first time the New England Patriots have struck a deal with a Web3-focused company. The sports team signed a marketing deal with Socios in November 2021.

Blockchain infrastructure company Chain, has announced a partnership with Kraft Sports + Entertainment, a subsidiary of Kraft Group. The deal would see Chain become the official blockchain and Web3 sponsor for the New England Patriots, New England Revolution, Gillette Stadium, and Patriot Place.

The official announcement states, “Chain and Kraft Sports + Entertainment will work hand in hand to develop state-of-the-art Web3 experiences while utilizing Chain’s award-winning suite of products and services.”

According to Chain CEO Deepak Thapliyal, Chain will serve as the technological infrastructure for all potential divisions of the Kraft group, including the Patriots, Revolutions, Gillette, and others. Deepak also revealed that Chain would provide highly special Web3 and NFT integrations for Kraft throughout this collaboration.

Chain will also leverage its proprietary blockchain technology to build cutting-edge experiences for stadium visitors. The Web3 infrastructure provider will support Gillette Stadium in creating unique, captivating moments and showcase the ground-breaking opportunities that exist when the physical and digital worlds are merged to create the best possible fan experience.

Both companies released statements expressing their excitement about the partnership. According to Murray Kohl, Vice President of Sales for Kraft Sports + Entertainment, the new collaboration will help fans connect with the Patriots and Revolution in innovative ways. Kohl said,

The Patriots and Revolution, along with our tech partners, have always strived to be leaders in innovation. From being the first pro sports team with a website and creating the first nightly Internet show, to having the longest continuously running podcast in the world, we’ve embraced the opportunities that advances in technology have presented for us and our fans.

The Kraft Group, a collection of private businesses that engage in the sports, manufacturing, and real estate markets, was established in 1998. The company is known for its multiple acquisitions of sports teams, including the 1994 purchase of the New England Patriots for $172 million. The deal was a record fee at the time. The team has gone on to enjoy multiple successes.

This will not be the first time the NFL team has announced a partnership with a Web3 company. The New England Patriots struck a promotional partnership with sports token platform Socios in November 2021, which it said was to leverage Web3 to boost fan engagement.
