  • Lionel Messi has struck a deal with popular derivatives exchange founded in 2018m, Bitget and the two will figure out ways to integrate Web3 and crypto with football.
  • Bitget also went on to reveal that there will be several benefits that the fans of Messi can enjoy and they can also get a chance to win around 100 Bitcoin (BTC).
  • In August this year, Bitget also struck a deal with Serie A legend Juventus football club and became its official sleeve partner for the 2022/2023 season.

Football megastar Lionel Messi has struck a deal with popular derivatives exchange Bitget and aims to explore more about the world of Web3 and how it can be implemented in the world of sports. This is the first time that the two are coming together ahead of the World Cup. However, this is definitely not the only deal a football star has made with a crypto firm. There is an increased interest from the sports industry in the crypto space.

Bitget confirmed the deal in an announcement and revealed that more terms of the deal will be revealed as the time passes. “We’ve entered an exclusive partnership with the Magician, the Genius, La Pulga, the Messi-ah, and all-time footballing GOAT — Leo Messi — winner of a record-breaking seven Ballon d’Or awards!” the exchange said.

Interestingly, Messi, known as one of the legends in the world of football who began his career with Spanish giants Barcelona and won countless honours, with 10 La Liga titles, four Champion League titles, and a Copa America Trophy, will be playing his trade with French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain.

“In this historic engagement, Bitget will team up with Messi to explore the areas of Web3, cryptocurrency and football. We’ll be revealing more developments as they come while Messi prepares for the World Cup 2022 in Qatar with the Argentinian national team,”

said Bitget.

Bitget also went on to reveal that there will be several benefits that the fans of Messi can enjoy and they can also get a chance to win around 100 Bitcoin (BTC), the world’s oldest and biggest cryptocurreny by market cap.

“If you’re a Messi fan, look out for exciting opportunities on Bitget coming your way. One of them will be the King’s Cup Global Invitational 2022: Football Edition, happening from November 21 to December 19, where you can win prizes of up to 100 BTC!”

Bitget revealed.

The deal has been struck at a time when Bitcoin, Ether and almost every altcoin has crashed significantly and it seems that there are chances of further crash as the US Fed continues its rate hike. Along with the crypto market crash, the stock markets have also crashed. It is a fear of many institutions that this is a time of recession period.

In August this year, Bitget also struck a deal with Serie A legend Juventus football club and became its official sleeve partner for the 2022/2023 season. The exchange was founded in 2018 and has since then never looked back despite the market crash in the pandemic and in 2022 following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A major possibility when it comes to sports and crypto firms’ deals is the debut of an NFT collection or a fan token. While almost every major football club has a fan token or an NFT collection after, it is possible that Bitget might offer fans NFTs related to Leo Messi. However, this is just pure speculation.
