Polygon Labs Announces a New CEO and Other Changes

  • Marc Boiron previously led the legal department at dYdX Trading. He also took on advisory roles at Compound Labs and Uniswap Labs.
  • Polygon recently unveiled plans to launch Polygon.2.0
  • Polygon successfully navigated the FTX drama thanks to its unique use cases and managed to onboard prominent brands such as Instagram and Starbucks.

Polygon Labs, the parent company of the Polygon blockchain, has announced a huge shakeup in the organization. The structural changes would see Ryan Wyatt, the president of Polygon Labs, step down at the end of July and take on an advisory position at the company. Marc Boiron, the company’s chief legal officer, has been appointed as CEO.

Polygon, in a press release, said that Boiron’s “appointment signals our commitment to nurture and expand the global Polygon community of developers, builders, and users.” As part of the shakeup, Rebecca Rettig, who serves as Polygon’s chief policy officer, will become the next chief legal officer.

Reacting to Boiron’s appointment, Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder and executive chairman of Polygon Labs, said on Twitter,

Marc is a highly regarded Web3 veteran and innovator with a super deep understanding of Web3 tech. He has served as an advisor to leading crypto funds in the space, helping drive many of the most successful DeFi protocols.

Wyatt’s time at the helm of affairs at Polygon Labs was resourceful for the company. He helped Polygon navigate the turmoil brought on by the FTX disaster and also onboard popular brands such as Instagram, Reddit, and Starbucks.

Wyatt has experience in gaming and esports and was appointed Chief Executive Officer at Polygon Studios in February 2022. He went on to become the president of the newly formed Polygon Labs.

The structural changes come as Polygon is in the process of rebranding for the next stage of its corporate evolution, known as “Polygon 2.0.” Polygon is also set to establish “decentralized governance” by July 17.
