Cardano Founder’s New Hospital will Accept ADA Crypto

  • The founder of the Cardano blockchain has recently announced the launch of his new hospital, “Hoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic.”
  • Charles Hoskinson announced that the hospital would be open for business by January of this year.
  • The hospited will accept the Cardano (ADA) cryptocurrency as payment for its services when it becomes fully functional.
  • He did not specify whether or not his new medical facility will also accept other major cryptocurrencies like BTC and ether ETH.

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of the Cardano blockchain, has recently announced the launch of his new hospital, “Hoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic,” where patients will be able to pay for healthcare services using ADA, the ecosystem’s native currency. This announcement comes at a time when the crypto space is being viewed with increased speculation and one of the worst bear markets in the decade-long existence of digital assets is being witnessed.

Hoskinson announced the development on Twitter on January 6, stating that the hospital would be open for business by January of this year. However, the 35-year-old did not specify whether or not his new medical facility will also accept other major cryptocurrencies like bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH). The revelation came when a Twitter follower asked if the customers could pay their bills using Cardano at the highly-anticipated hospital. Interestingly, Hoskinson replied with a “yes.”

Hoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic is based in Wyoming, United States, according to the hospital’s website. Notably, Cardano Founder’s hospital commits to offer a comprehensive range of medical services, such as primary care, mental health care, women’s health care, cancer screenings, proactive health screenings, cardiovascular care, and diet/nutritional medicine.

Moreover, Hoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic would also work on life extensions for aging patients, biological food supplements, diets, exercise, and medical treatment, according to the website.

The clinic, which is currently partially open, will be completely operating next month. The hospital has around 10 staff members right now, according to its LinkedIn page, and is trying to add more.

The cryptocurrency market is suffering from a prolonged bearish trend, with most cryptocurrencies currently trading at levels not seen in a very long time.

Described as “solid, futuristic technology” by Hoskinson, Cardano is one of the most reliable blockchain networks in the cryptocurrency industry. The eighth largest cryptocurrency by market cap is currently trading around $0.33, down by around 88% from its all-time high in September 2021.

Amid the ongoing crypto winter, Hoskinson has kept up his efforts to promote the ADA token’s adoption. The blockchain developer revealed in June last year that Nessie’s restaurant and a whisky lounge would open in Wyoming and accept ADA as a form of payment.

However, for some visitors, the decision to accept ADA as a payment method was disappointing at the time. Some people noted that Hoskinson might have picked other Cardano-based payment methods like DJED, the ecosystem’s first decentralized stablecoin.

While the price of the Cardano (ADA) crypto coin has plunged significantly in the last few months, it is crucial to note that the development team of the project is proceeding very smoothly.

Recently, it was reported by Bitnation that the first fully fiat-backed, regulatory-compliant stablecoin in the Cardano (ADA) ecosystem, USDA, will debut in Q1 2023, and the ADA ecosystem will give potential investors the option to convert their USD into the Cardano-based regulated stablecoin via credit/debit cards, wire transfers, and other means.

Moreover, last year, the network also underwent a crucial upgrade called the Vasil upgrade, named after the late Bulgarian environmentalist, Vasil Stoyanov Dabov. This upgrade was aimed at increasing the throughput of Cardano blockchain.
