SAMHK van Samsung introduceert Bitcoin Futures ETF in Hong Kong

• Samsung Asset Management Hong Kong (SAMHK), a division of the tech firm’s investment arm, is set to debut a Bitcoin futures ETF.

As interest in Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) continues to rise, Samsung Asset Management Hong Kong (SAMHK), a division of Samsung’s investment arm, Samsung Asset Management, announces the launch of the “Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF” on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

De Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF wordt op 13 januari gelanceerd en biedt lokale beleggers een reguliere weg voor indirecte Bitcoin-prijsblootstelling. 

Volgens een rapport by Fortune Korea, the newly-launched ETF is designed to track the spot price of the world’s biggest cryptocurrency by investing in its futures products listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). The ETF will largely invest in the CME Bitcoin Futures, in addition to limited investments in the CME Micro-Bitcoin Futures.

Commenting on the new launch and the possibilities in Hong Kong, the head of Samsung Asset Management Hong Kong, Park Seong-jin, stated:

“Hong Kong is the only market in Asia where Bitcoin futures ETFs are listed and traded in the institutional market. It will be a new option for investors who are interested in Bitcoin as a competitive product that reflects their experience in risk management.”

Met name Canada, de Verenigde Staten, Australië en verschillende Europese landen zoals Zwitserland zijn andere wereldwijde marktplaatsen waar Bitcoin Futures ETF's worden vermeld.

De nieuw gelanceerde ETF geeft duidelijk aan dat Samsung, met een marktkapitalisatie van $300 miljard, wil profiteren van de groeiende interesse in de blockchain-technologie en cryptocurrencies.

Notably, in 2022, Samsung Asset Management Hong Kong Limited held $1.4 billion worth of assets under management, and the company’s well-known global brand is still well positioned in the cryptocurrency industry. Interestingly, its flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S22, has a preinstalled blockchain wallet.

Het is van cruciaal belang op te merken dat de technologiegigant onlangs is begonnen met investeren in blockchain-technologie en cryptocurrencies, ondanks het feit dat technische giganten zoals Apple blijft speculeren op digitale activa. Zoals eerder gemeld door Bitnation, kondigde het bedrijf aan dat het blockchain-technologie zou gebruiken om een beveiligingsdienst voor zijn apparaten te bouwen en introduceerde de Samsung Knox Matrix, een beveiligingsplatform, zou eersteklas beveiligingsfuncties bieden die worden gebruikt door toonaangevende bureaus. Bovendien is het bedrijf ook gestart het produceren van zijn drie-nanometer-chips (3nm) die worden gebruikt in Bitcoin-mijnbouw die geschikt zijn voor bepaalde geïntegreerde schakelingen (ASIC's).
